Sheet Goods & Plywood

Structural panels, sheathing, and sheet materials — including plywood, OSB, MDF, and specialty boards. The workhorse materials of modern construction.

Sheet Goods Overview

Sheet goods — also called structural panels, sheathing, or board products — are large-format building materials typically manufactured in 4' × 8' sheets (though longer panels are available). They form the skin of modern wood-frame buildings: roof decks, wall sheathing, subflooring, and underlayment.

The two dominant structural panels in North American construction are plywood and OSB (oriented strand board). Together they account for over 90% of all structural sheathing installed in residential construction. While both serve the same structural functions, they differ significantly in moisture behavior, cost, and handling characteristics.

Beyond standard structural panels, this category also covers specialty products like ZIP System integrated WRB sheathing, AdvanTech premium subflooring, MDO overlay plywood for signage and formwork, and marine-grade plywood for boat building and permanent water exposure applications.

📦 Materials

CDX Plywood

This is a test description for CDX plywood as we work on the technical backend of the website.

OSB (Oriented Strand Board)

Oriented strand board (OSB) is an engineered wood panel made from compressed wood strands bonded with waterproof resin. It is the most widely used structural sheathing panel in North American residential construction, offering uniform strength properties and lower cost than plywood.

ZIP System Sheathing

sheet-goods

ZIP System sheathing is a structural panel with an integrated water-resistive barrier (WRB) and air barrier built into the panel face, eliminating the need for house wrap. Manufactured by Huber Engineered Woods, it combines structural sheathing and weather protection in a single step.

AdvanTech Subflooring

sheet-goods

AdvanTech is a premium engineered wood subflooring panel manufactured by Huber Engineered Woods, known for exceptional moisture resistance, dimensional stability, and a 500-day no-sanding guarantee. It is the industry standard for high-performance subflooring systems.

MDO Plywood (Medium Density Overlay)

sheet-goods

MDO (Medium Density Overlay) plywood is an exterior-grade plywood panel with a smooth, paintable resin-fiber overlay bonded to one or both faces. It provides an exceptionally smooth surface for paint, signage, concrete formwork, and architectural applications.

Marine Plywood

sheet-goods

Marine plywood is a premium plywood panel manufactured with waterproof adhesive and void-free core veneers, designed for permanent or chronic moisture exposure in boat building, dock construction, and marine-adjacent structural applications.
