The ANSI/HPVA standard (formerly ANSI Type I / Type II) classifies wood adhesive water resistance. Type I adhesives (like Titebond III) pass the boil test and are suitable for exterior and marine use. Type II adhesives (like Titebond II) are water-resistant for interior and protected exterior applications.
