Linear foot pricing ignores width and thickness — a 1×4 at $1.50/LF and a 1×8 at $1.50/LF cost the same per foot but use very different amounts of material. When comparing trim options, calculate cost per square foot of face coverage for an accurate comparison. To convert: a 1×6 (5.5" face) at $2.00/LF = $4.36/sq ft of face area.
